Price
While common wisdom may seem to dictate that the more expensive the product, the better, this is not always the case when it comes to mattresses. If you are a person who tends to “sleep hot”- you rarely use a heavy bedcover, even during the coldest weather, and keep a fan or air conditioner running nearly year-round, a pricey memory foam mattress would probably be a bad fit. Traditional memory foam tends to retain body heat. The heat allows the foam to mold comfortably to your body but may make a “hot” sleeper feel as if they’re sleeping in a sauna. For them, coils may be a better choice. Bottom line: don’t base your choice on price alone.
Firmness Level
The firmness level you choose will depend on a couple of factors. First, your most preferred sleeping position. Side-sleepers tend to prefer softness, which creates fewer pressure points. Back and stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer bed that offers better spinal support. Body weight also comes into play when choosing. While foam may be preferable for the average person, a larger person may prefer the support offered by a coil bed.
